Line Up, Line Up

Passiontree Velvet opened it's second store at Robina Town Centre of the 25th of September. Similar to the Carindale store, the menu and packaging are identical, but there are a few minor alterations regarding to decor. Jerry notified me he was heading down to the opening and little to Josh's knowledge, I tagged along with Jerry to surprise Josh after convincing him I wasn't able to go due to compulsory classes I had to attend at uni. 

Conveniently, the first Zara store in Queensland also launched at Robina Town Centre that morning, except the lines were ridiculously long and time there was limited.


Welcome to Queensland, Zara.


Mid-semester break has started and so far I spent yesterday working (super duper busy due to Riverfire), today sleeping and eating. Yet despite the sleep, my eye bags still continue to linger.


Afternoon strolls around my neighbourhood (I feel like I live in a rainforest).

Now that I've rested up, I'm ready for a packed week ahead which hopefully means more posts. Adios amigos x.

EUS Winter Wonderland 2014


After much drama, confusion, frustration and alterations, the night of the EUS Engineering Ball arrived. Despite some last minute changes (I had to sell a ticket on the day), the night ran smoothly and everyone looks incredibly gorgeous! It was such a shame that the venue had this horrible purple hue that really showed in photos and the food could have been better... Nonetheless, it was great seeing people all dressed up in dresses and suits since we usually choose comfort over style with our everyday outfits for uni.

We're such a colourful bunch oh and Simon was at the table for 0.05% of the time and at that bar the other 99.95% of the time. 

This is my clique, you don't mess with my clique. 

Despite having an exam that finished at around six that evening and so much on his plate, Josh also came which made my night that much better. Not to mention, he looked ridiculously handsome in his suit (okay, that's enough from me). 


I feel like I've spammed enough photos over my social media already so I'll just leave it here and say I'm looking forward to the mid-semester break next week. I can finally sleep in!

So Sprung


It's a bit late (better late than never right?), but happy Spring! Spring makes me really happy because I adore flowers and what better season for flowers to bloom. 

I've been drowning in assessment lately and I've finally had a chance to breathe so I'd thought I'd do a quick post. A week or two ago, I decided to trial five pairs of glasses from Oscar Wylee. I've been on the search for a new pair of glasses since I'm in need of a new pair as my current ones are wearing out. Oscar Wylee has this funky home trial lens concept where you can select up to five frames on their website and they deliver them to you so you can see how they actually look on you. This beats the virtual try-on system some other websites use... 


In other Spring time news, the second Passiontree Velvet store will be opening in Robina Town Centre next week on September 24th! To celebrate the launch, they're offering 'Bring a Friend for Free' offer during their opening week which sounds amazingly good to me. So Josh and I went to visit the site  on the weekend. I have to admit, Robina Town Centre exceeded my expectations and more. I don't really know what I expecting but they had so many stores and brands and Queensland's first ZARA is opening there soon too.


I've been hinting to Josh that if we ever did happen to go to Gold Coast on a Saturday, the first place we had to go was to Blendlove at Marina Mirage Farmer's Markets after I was introduced to their Instagram page by my dear friend Steph. Apart from the fact a few cakes had been sold out, their selection did not disappoint. I was so excited and overwhelmed, I wanted to try them all and I decided to buy six slices! I wish I could have brought some back to Brisbane but by the time we got from Marina Mirage to Robina, the cakes (half eaten at this point) had mostly melted, sad times. AND THEN JOSH DECIDED TO THROW THEM ALL OUT.

So these are just some of my favourite encounters since the start of Spring! Engineering ball is this Saturday and I'm doing my own make-up and hair and everything so fingers crossed it turns out well.

Food Adventures: Lock 'n' Load Bistro

My first experience of Lock 'n' Load Bistro was with Sarah for brunch some time ago now. We were greeted by a friendly staff member who led us to their relaxed, courtyard seating area outside in the sun where other fellow brunch-ers were also seated. Eager to try their menu, we opted for our choices along with sweet potato fries (I fell in love with sweet potato fries after this encounter) and frappes.

Initially when you walk in, you enter the indoor bar area. As you walk further towards the back you realise the end of the bar section actually leads out into the lovely courtyard area perfect for the morning, afternoon and Summer nights (I think it would be quite chilly during Winter). For those who are after a more cosy yet chill setting, the indoor seating area is perfect, however for all you Foodgrammers, I would recommend sitting outside during daytime if possible since the natural lighting is wonderful. 

After my long-time craving of sweet potato fries, Josh and I went to try out Lock 'n' Load's dinner menu! Everything on their menu seemed so enticing it was so hard to decide what I wanted to order.

In the end I opted for the Confit pork belly, smoked celeriac purée, green beans, caramelized ale cider jus and Josh ordered thHunter Valley 80 day grain fed eye fillet with mushroom purée, potato gratin and horseradish butter. For the entree, we went with the waiter's recommendation of Scallops in the half shell, crisp pork belly, sweet corn purée and although it was quite what we were expecting, all the different flavours and elements complimented each other and only made us more eager for our mains. 

I've been having a pork belly phase as of late and LNL did not disappoint. Josh's eye fillet not only looked generous, but also tasted hearty and flavoursome and we were definitely full by the end.

I'm getting so hungry just writing this post! This place is great for a night out, dates, catch ups, drinks, everything really!
