I Don't Do This Very Often

For those that know me, you will know I'm not a very big make-up enthusiast. I get by with your everyday foundation, bit of concealer (I've just accepted the fact that my eyebags are there for good), mascara and eyeliner. To be honest, I didn't even start drawing my eyebrows until the end of semester two this year and I wouldn't really bother with eyeshadow or bronzer. Sarah would tell me off for never using cleanser for my skin or using make-up brushes, or putting on bronzer but oh well, life goes on. 

So I guess, once in a blue moon I go on a little make-up spree. I've had my eyes on a few 3 Concept Eyes (3CE) products for a while now and luckily, Josh happened to had the chance to go to Korea so he bought me a few items I had wanted!

Priceline had a 40% sale last week so I decided to purchase this Nude set and a few other little pieces. The mineral powders actually make my skin look so much better!

Food Adventures: Jamie's Italian

Location // 237 Edward St, Brisbane CBD


I had walked past the restaurant a couple of time while it was under construction so after much anticipation, Josh, Emily, Ian and I were finally seated -after an hour long wait- in a comfortable booth within the dimly lit restaurant. We initially arrived at around 7:30 pm and were told there was an hour wait, so we put our name on the waiting list and came back. Before we were seated, we were seated at 'Jamie's Bar' while the waiters set up our table. It was pretty late by the time we were seated however, that didn't prevent us from fulfilling our appetite. 


Our waiter was very welcoming and attended to us immediately asking us if we wanted to order any drinks to start off with. Since we had already started looking at the menus while we were waiting at the bar, we had a good idea of what we wanted so we ordered then and there. Unfortunately, (maybe due to the fact that we were there so late) they had run out of the Lamb & Ricotta Tortellini (what I originally wanted) and the Zucchini Fritter side. Instead I opted for the Honeycomb Cannelloni Three Ways which turned out to be an excellent option.

Our Famous Polenta Chips // Crispy fried with rosemary and parmesan 
Crispy Arancini // Stuffed risotto rice balls with sweet red chillies, mozzarella, spicy arrabbiata sauce and parmesan
Fried Three-Cheese Gnocchi // Delicious crunchy gnocchi with a fiery arrabiatta dip

Mains //
Rainbow Trout Acqua Pazza // Pan-fried while rainbow trout with olives, garlic, capers, parsley and sweet plum tomatoes
Prime Strip Loin // 250g pasture-fed Aussie Black Angus strip loin, topped with truffle butter and served with sauteed mushrooms and peppery endives
Honeycomb Cannelloni Three-Ways // Aubergine and sundried tomato; pumpkin; ricotta and spinach 
Black Angel Spaghetti // Squid-ink pasta, scallops, chilli, anchovies, wine and capers

My Drink // Jamie's Grown-Up Iced Tea // Lightly spiced rum, breakfast tea syrup, lemon juice & peach puree served over ice

I absolutely enjoyed my cannelloni. The fact it was three-ways kept the flavours interesting and the full-bodied sauce nicely complimented the dish. All the sides tasted great except I found the polenta chips to be a tad too bland for my liking. Josh didn't find the steak to meet his expectations as he found the medium rare stake too rare and bland. Ian found his rainbow trout delicious and Emily's Black Angel Pasta looked nice and tasted zesty, however I can understand if some people find it a bit too spicy. All in all, the food was lovely and plated wonderfully aesthetic to the eye. We all ordered a drink and I ordered Jamie's Grown-Up Iced Tea cocktail which was just what I needed. 

By the time we were leaving, the restaurant was starting to close so I quickly went to check out the lower level. I didn't realise how big Jamie's Italian to be! You wouldn't expect it until you walk in and see it to believe it yourself.

Cheers to the Weekend


Hello dear readers, I hope you are all doing well and having a splendid time during the first few days (or weeks) of freedom! Three days in and I'm feeling incredibly free and also in need of recovery sleep. 

My weekend went by fast yet slow (?) at the same time. My Saturday consisted of babysitting, sushi, (tad expensive) specialty coffee, shopping, the intention of going out, great company, pyjamas, candles, cheap wine, reality TV shows, Passion Tree and deep and meaningful conversations on a 5km trek back home (yes, I managed to convince Sarah to walk the entire way home with me).

On the other hand, Sunday morning was nice, calm and collected with a super early get-out-of-bed-time at 12pm. Although, I definitely can't say the same for Sunday night. Sarah and I spent the day at Garden City Shopping Centre walking around after Danny super kindly drove us there! I haven't seen the new renovations within the shopping centre yet so when I incredibly overwhelmed by the significant improvements and changes, I didn't even recognise the old Garden City! 

We waited for Alan (so thankful for him driving us!) to come pick us up and drive us to Grace's Party.

Food Adventures: Plenty

Location // 284 Montague Rd, West End QLD 4101



Located a few streets off the main street in West End sits a spacious, warehouse like, rustic cafe situated in between wholesalers. Plenty separated into three sections -- the outside seating area, the room nestled inside wooden frames (pictured above) and another inside area behind an arched door. Having been there once last year (and only ordered coffee), I wanted to revisit and try their food so Sarah I decided to go to Plenty for our catch up after our original destination, Mondo Organics, was not opened on weekdays (we found out the hard way). 



From their interior, decor, menu and products, the cafe provides this environmentally aware feeling. Plenty is very focused on the quality of the ingredients served, ensuring their ingredients are fresh and local, therefore altering their menu on a regular basis to cater this. Instead of getting sit-down menus, all the meals are written on a large blackboard situated on the wall. The staff there were friendly and greeted us with nice, bright smile. A lot of their items sounded so enticing so I would definitely go back to try a few other items off the menu and see the new items they have to offer! 

I ordered their spin of avocado and toast while Sarah ordered bacon and eggs. You order at the counter and they give you a number and all you need is to find a table and wait for your meal, it's as simple as that! Although the servings are not very big, it is evident in the taste the freshness of the ingredients used.

Note: If you're looking for a big, hearty feed I wouldn't really recommend Plenty as your first option but with that being said, they also offer delicious and fresh baked goods, sandwiches and salads to fill you up!

Best Feeling

One of the best feelings in life is the feeling you get after you finish your last exam for the semester, with the holidays eagerly awaiting for you. Today, I revisited this feeling but mind you, running on around ten hours of sleep in the past three days is not very helpful especially when you go to to your brother's graduation lunch straight after the exam and then straight to work until nine with no time for rest in between. 

I'll keep this post short and simple with my three favourite 'P's' in the past few weeks.

Food Adventures: Botanica

Location // Shop 9, 1 Enoggera Terrace Red Hill, QLD 4059

Driving before going to study at university never felt so motivating when you know you're going to some wholesome salad for lunch from Botanica located in Red Hill that will fill you up until dinner. I've been following their Instagram account for a while now and decided to check out their amazingly looking raw salads, cakes and not to mention their newly released breakfast selection, perfect for people looking for some clean eats. It's healthy take-away food that you know is prepared daily, full of goodness and raw produce that will make you feel amazing. 


There was a fairly long line when I arrived, so I had to start queuing outside since the store itself wasn't very spacious. There aren't any tables or seats available so customers just take it away to wherever they are going. All of their freshly made salads and pastries were presented delicately in the displays which just draws you in that much more.

I wish I was able to take a photo of the salad cabinet (I'll add a photo after my next visit) as the assorted colours of the raw salads all looked incredibly enticing. There weren't any labels on the salads so I kind of just had to point and ask what salads contained. The choice was so hard to make and despite the time I had while waiting in line to decide, I ended up just choosing under pressure. From what I can remember after looking at their online menu (their salads change on a daily basis) I ended up choosing: 

Freekah with roasted eggplant, prunes, mint, almonds and turmeric cashew cream 
Baby pea and potato salad, fresh dill and green tahini dressing 
Shaved raw broccoli, dehydrated cranberries and almonds and raw garlic and cashew cream




Originally, I was planning to get breakfast, however I didn't make the 6am-9am cut-off so I'm planning to go in the near future. It may or may not include me purchasing some of their delicious looking baked goods too eheh.
