Food Adventures: LostBoys

Location // 694 Ann St Fortitude Valley, QLD 4006
Cuisine // Coffee, Vegetarian

'LostBoys Happiness Project' // Uplifting & funny comments written all over one side of the wall which kept us well entertained

Right across the road from The Beat

I stumbled across this gem while walking from Longtime one night and my attention immediately focused on the interior of the cafe. That night, I messaged my #SS gal pals and decided Lost Boys was our next breakfast destination.

I thought I had aimed a little high for us to meet at 9am but surprisingly, we all kind of made it on time despite the gloomy weather.

When we arrived, LostBoys had a 'coffee on us if you beat the barista in scissors, paper, rock' game happening and even though I lost my game, Sandra one hers (for Sarah). Evidently from the name 'LostBoys', the cafe incorporates an appropriate theme - fom an indoor treehouse feature, something I've never ever ever seen or heard of before to menus that are hidden in books located on the bookshelf where you simply grab one off yourself and find yourself a table.

LostBoys' concept definitely drew me in and it did not disappoint. The place itself was so calm and peaceful, with no pressure on us to leave quickly as some other cafes seem to have, which resulted in us staying there for quite a while, or until the rain died down.

Carrot cake / Poached eggs with avocado and tomato / Corn fritters with avocado, relish, rocket and sour cream.

I'm looking forward to visiting soon as their new menu sounds so promising!

S Y D N E Y by us.

I've recently been getting questions from people asking me why I'm in Sydney so often so I've decided to post about what I've been getting up to during my short weekend trips down here.

Two weeks ago, Passiontree Velvet launched its first store at Macquarie Centre in Sydney. Chris and I have mentioned on a few occasions that I should host a high tea just to get the word out ya know. Before I knew it, I was looking up potential intivitees (it was actually such a tough process because there were so many people that I wanted to invite!!) and sending out emails, waiting to receive their responses.

On the day of the event, I pretty much sat with everyone as they enjoyed their food and chatted about anything and everything (but now that I think of it, a lot of topics diverted back to food haha). Honestly, it was such a fun an rewarding experience and I had the pleasure to meet so many amazing people! I'm definitely looking forward to hosting more events in the future ;)

Cake display on fleek // I've only tried two of the eclairs but am pretty keen to try the Strawberry Cheesecake one some time soon

High Tea spread from the first session ft. Full Duchess High Tea for two, assorted cakes & macarons, tea and iced tea.

Aside from the working aspect, I met up with a friends and it was a great time just catching up since I hadn't seen them in a while. I travelled out to Redfern to try out Three Williams since I'd heard some pretty good things about the place. Unfortunately, I underestimated how far it actually was but fortunately I didn't have to wait for a table since Kevin had already done so (THANKS KEVIN HAHAHA I'M SO SORRY T_T)

Crunchy brioche french toast finished w/ fresh berries, yoghurt, roasted pecans + pure organic maple syrup

And ofc, what's a trip to Sydney without visiting Jiwon?!

K I N by us. / Miso Yummy - Miso salmon, onsen eggs, sesame spinach & sourdough / Sub-Marine - Soft-shell crab, chilli & brioche / No Lah - Clustered muesli, yogurt, honey, seasonal fruit / The BFF Bun - Bacon, crispy egg, chilli mayo & brioche / Kaya - Homemade coconut jam & toast

While we were eating at KIN by us, Jiwon turned to me and asked me if the baby opposite us looked familiar. Once we confirmed he looked familiar, it turned out that Janice from Jayesslee was in fact, sitting right across from us!

The Missing Piece / Pomegreatness Iced Tea - Infused with green tea, pomegranate, berries, blackcurrant & a hint of mint

The Missing Piece / Sea - Marinated wood-smoked salmon tossed with kale, quinoa, chia seeds, almonds, olive oil, garlic & lemon topped with a poached egg / Hashtag Sliders - Three sliders filled w/ slow cooked lamb, jalapeƱo mayonnaise & rocket, served w/ four polenta blocks

I definitely enjoyed Sydney, but it's time to go back home and hit the books. I received my final exam timetables a few days ago and I'll be done with exams by the end of June!

So perhaps until then xx
